The furthest back I can go to date is Owen O’Shea (1727 – 1795) in Kanturk, Co. Cork.  Owen married Ellen ? (1735 – 1786).

I share a DNA match with Timothy David O’Shea, residing in New York as of 2023.  Timothy traces his ancestry to Owen O’Shea from Kanturk.  While I initially assumed Owen to be our common great-great-grandfather, I would love to have more documentation to back this up.  However, I am going with it until I find to the contrary.

If anyone has any more clarifying evidence for or against my assumptions, I would appreciate an email to infosheacollins@gmail.com

No doubt Owen and Ellen had more than two children, but of the only two I have found to date, one is named Timothy, and I don’t know the first name of the other son from whom I believe I am descended.

Timothy (wife unknown) had at least one son named Michael, but must have had others.

Owen’s other son, whose first name is unknown, had at least three children:

  • Thomas O’Shea (died 1869) married Bridget Storin (1808 – 1869) and they had four sons and one daughter.
  • James O’Shea  Due to lack of evidence to the contrary and going on the slim clues  I have, I am putting James’s wife to be Margaret Connors…
  • Timothy O’Sheaborn 1796.  Thomas was deported from England to Tasmania in 1851.  He left a wife behind in Kilmacanerla, and maybe even children.  Given his age at the time he was transported, it is doubtful he survived his sentn
