Timothy J. O’Shea was born on May 29, 1869, in Ballygrennan (now called Granagh), Co. Limerick to James O’Shea and Margaret Meehan.

 

Timothy left Ireland for USA at age 19 and arrived in Boston, Massachusetts on the ship “Marathon” on 27 April 1888
The Buffalo, NY directory of 1890 has Timothy living over 114 Maurice St., Buffalo and he is working as a trackman.

In the 1900 census he is living with his younger sister Mary T. O’Shea and her husband Patrick Quinn at 120 Maurice Street, Buffalo.

Timothy married Delia A. “Bridget” O’Brien.  Delia had immigrated to the United States in 1890.

Delia is listed in later census forms as a cleaner for the railroad company and their daughter Teresa as a stenographer at the same company.

1904 – His son James W. Shea was born in 1904 in Buffalo, New York.

In 1904, on August 18, Timothy’s younger brother,Patrick, then 19 years old, embarked on a journey from Cobh aboard the ship Teutonic, destined for New York, with the purpose of visiting his siblings.  The sea voyage spanned seven days, concluding on August 25 when he reached Ellis Island.  Upon arrival, he made his way to 1095 Perry St., Buffalo, NY, to Timothy.

1905 – At age 35 Timothy was run over by a train at 2.45am on 1 June 1905 near Seneca St.

1906 – his daughter Teresa was born
In 1910 Delia was on her own with two small children.   James W was 6 years old and Teresa was 4.  Delia was renting at 422 Louisiana St., Buffalo and employed as an office cleaner at the railroad.

In the 1930 census Delia owns a home on 298 Elk St. and is not working.  James W. is employed as a firefighter for the City of Buffalo, and Teresa is a stenographer at the railroad company.  298 Elk St. is no longer there.
